What began in 2019 as an opportunity to provide North Texas schools with a formal space for folklórico evaluation has now evolved into a statewide movement. Through the dedicated efforts of educators and directors, these contests have expanded to reach schools across multiple regions, supporting students in studying and performing regional folklórico dances.
The Texas Ballet Folklórico Contests are exclusively designed for Ballet Folklórico programs officially established within public or private educational institutions. Independent community groups, studios, or organizations not directly affiliated with a school are not eligible to participate. After-school programs may participate only when formally operated under the supervision of a public or private school.

The Adopt-a-School Program is an initiative that supports Texas schools by strengthening school-based dance programs through the provision of essential instructional resources. Through this program, corporate sponsors, businesses, and individual donors have the opportunity to adopt a school of their choice, supporting student instruction by supplying costumes, accessories, and materials required for performance-based learning.
TADC manages every step of the process, connecting sponsors with schools and ensuring that each contribution supports long-term student participation in dance education. By supporting the Adopt-a-School Program, sponsors help expand access to dance instruction, strengthen school programs, and provide students the opportunity to study regional dance traditions within an educational setting.

1. School Selection: Sponsors can choose a specific school to support, or TADC can assist in identifying schools in need.
2. Resource Support: Contributions can be made in the form of donated costumes or financial support to purchase attire and supplies.
3. Ongoing Partnership: TADC helps maintain a meaningful partnership between the sponsor and the chosen school, creating lasting relationships and recognizing sponsor contributions

Sponsors participating in the Adopt-a-School Program play an essential role in supporting student participation, strengthening school dance programs, and expanding access to dance education in Texas schools. This initiative strengthens partnerships between schools and community supporters, supports the study and performance of regional dance traditions, and provides students with meaningful opportunities to engage in the performing arts.

If you're a corporate sponsor or donor interested in adopting a school, contact us at info@txdanceandculture.org. Together, we can help expand access to school-based dance education across Texas, providing students with the instructional resources needed to participate in structured performing arts programs.

The Texas Association for Dance and Culture (TADC) is proud to present and support Ballet Folklórico contests across the State of Texas as an expansion of the North Texas Ballet Folklórico Contest. Established in 2019 by a group of dance educators, fine arts administrators, and program leaders, this initiative began as a regional effort to provide schools with a structured assessment platform for folklórico programs. Today, it has developed into a statewide educational initiative supporting folklórico instruction in both public and private schools.
TADC continues to collaborate with educators and the University Interscholastic League (UIL) by providing program data, assessment models, and educational resources. The contests are currently in the monitoring phase with UIL, representing an important step in the formal evaluation process toward potential official recognition.

These grants provide funding for projects that introduce innovative approaches to dance instruction, choreography, and performance, with an emphasis on the study of diverse dance traditions and expanding student access to dance education. Projects may include integrating technology into dance instruction, developing interdisciplinary learning experiences, or creating new curriculum models. The Youth Council Program is an initiative designed to develop student leadership skills within the dance community by providing opportunities for leadership training, service, and participation in dance education activities. This program brings together dedicated dance students interested in leadership and school-based dance programs.
Members of the TADC Youth Council participate in workshops, leadership training, and community service projects, gaining experience in event organization, program support, and arts education outreach.
